On October 6th, 2014, Sustainable Claremont held its sixth Annual Meeting and awarded certificates of appreciation for exceptional contributions to a more sustainable community in the following categories:

Community Leader ‐ to Joe Lyons for his many actions on the City Council and as Mayor that have furthered sustainability and for his support of Sustainable Claremont

Energy ‐ to Catherine Greenbeck for outstanding home energy savings

Food ‐ to the Pomona College Organic Farm for their efforts at community education

Landscape ‐ to John Kosta for his transformation of lawn into an outstanding  waterwise garden

Trees ‐ to Michael Heilpern for starting the Tree Action Group

Schools ‐ to Vista del Valle Elementary School for its garden and recycling efforts

Water ‐ to Sorrel Stielstra for not only working to educate us about recycling water, but leading by example
