Social Sustainability
Social sustainability requires us to do our best to address the needs of all individuals and groups within the community in a fair and equitable manner. This includes attention to improving the range of housing types and income levels available and to their distribution throughout the City, as well as to issues related to health, employment, social support networks, youth and senior facilities, neighborhood diversity and preservation, and to equal treatment for all by government. A few years ago, Claremont became the first Fair Trade City in southern California, and recently OLA became a Fair Trade Congregation.

Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.
